Description

Extraordinary 1888 Conly Studios John Clarkson league schedule card. This fantastic sepia image measures 2 x 3-7/8" and was neatly extracted from a larger schedule scorecard produced by Alfred Mudge & Son of Boston. While an alternate portrait pose has surfaced, the offered example is the only full-body pose of the hurler to be made available for public sale. Interestingly, the design sequence of this relic mirrors the highly prized 1888 N338 S.F. Hess (Big League) designation of the same period. The mustachioed future Hall of Famer displays his patented wind-up as he sets his gaze on an unfortunate batter. Moderate interior creasing, edge chipping and other evidence of handling is overwhelmed by a pitching pose that has survived the past 127 years in remarkable condition. The reverse portion is clean. A stunning specimen deserving of spirited bidding attention!
