A lifelong endeavor netted California-born diver Pat McCormick (among countless other accolades) this Helms World Trophy. It was during her youth and teen years that an undaunted McCormick routinely practiced dives not allowed in female competition. At the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland, McCormick parlayed her tireless practice sessions into Gold Medal efforts in both the Springboard and Platform events. Four years later in Melbourne, she repeated those prestigious awards. In between, McCormick was given this handsome trophy plaque. Affixed to a vintage wooden board of 11x13, an 8x10 silver plate trophy features relief likenesses of the Los Angeles-based Helms Foundation, as well as the names of overseas contemporaries. This vintage relic presents nicely with age-induced tarnish.
